Off to London
Last Thursday my brother Dan left for the Preston, London MTC. We have received one email from his mission president letting us know that he had made it safely. We are excited for Wednesday when he will be able to email us.
The last couple of weeks we have been spending as much time with my family as we could, before he left. Bob and Dan have been painting the apartment downstairs and doing yard work at my parents house almost everyday. And then at night we would get together for dinner and games.
Last Wednesday we had a nice dinner with our family and Dan's friends before he was set apart. My mom cooked an amazing meal of grilled chicken and smoked ribs. It was fun to have Dan's friends over for dinner. All 3 of them will be leaving for their missions within the next couple months.
I was a little emotional the whole night, but once I said goodbye and left I was just fine. I know that my brother is doing a great thing. I am so impressed with him and his dedication to serve the people of London for the next two years.
The siblings together one last time!
Dan and my parents.
Our family! Bob had to leave early to go to young mens.
Dan's friends who came to the dinner. And the girls who came over for one last visit.

Year 1...
Last Saturday Bob and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary. I can't believe that it has already been one year, time has flown by. We have been blessed in our first year and have been able to spend a lot of time together.
We traveled to the Bahamas, Chicaco, Milwaukee, Mount Pleasant, Ogden, and Pasco.
We started traditions together.
We try to go to the temple together weekly.
We had Pizza Wednesday.
We've had numerous movie nights in our living room, dragging our mattress out for the night. Bob usually watches the whole thing, I usually fall asleep.
We began our marriage preparing for pharmacy school and 1 year later we are accepted to the school of our choice. 3 years to go.
Bob graduated from BYU.
Things I've learned in the last year of marriage:
I am the best cook. haha, not! Bob is so kind. After every meal he says, "This is the best ____ I've ever had." How lucky am I? Even after we had different types of curry 3 times in a week, he still thought I was good.
I have to buy enough body wash for Bob to have a bottle each week. He goes through it like water.
Bob and I both love to get the mail. It's always a bit of a disappointment when I realize Bob has already gotten it.
When riding in the car, I have to have a blanket, Bob likes the air conditioning on full blast.
Bob is more than willing to do anything I ask. Once I forgot I had to make dinner for a couple in our ward. I called home, and Bob immediately started on a cake to help me with my dinner preparations.
If Bob could, he would make a milkshake every night. He always makes enough for 2. And usually eats both servings.
I've gone to bed earlier this year then I ever have in my entire life. Or at least since elementary school. With Bob's work schedule, we went to bed around 8:30 or 9:00 almost every night.
If Bob beats me home from school, he will tidy up the living room and do the dishes. *How was I this lucky?
We are both extremely competitive, but Bob is just plain good. He beats me in every game. We have to take breaks, because I get upset when I repeatedly lose.
I am the luckiest girl. I have the best husband. I love you babe!

Spring Pictures
A month ago or so we had spring pictures taken at our school. You know the pics, they have the floral/greenery background and you do the chin in your hand pose. -Close up style. The kids were so excited. Everyone gets their picture taken regardless of whether you are buying them or not. They also send home a FULL 5 page packet for the parents to look at and decide. The students have had their packets for over 2 weeks. I still have about 10 kids who haven't turned in the packet or money to buy them.
Every day I go over the same talk, "Please remember to bring back your pictures or the money for your pictures!" And then I look at them stare them all in the eyes, "What is it called if you don't bring back the pictures or the money?" And then they all yell back at me, "STEALING!"
We had a lesson on how you can't have the pictures for free, even though they sent them home with you. Some kids say they are waiting on parents paychecks, which I believe. And others are waiting for their parents to decide how much they like them.
One student, J- he told me he wasn't going to steal them. He was very adamant about it. "I will bring them back as soon as my mom is done scanning them into the computer Mrs. Barber."
Oh great. So much for trying to teach my students a good lesson about being honest and not stealing things that aren't yours.

Introducing...
Firsts
This weekend we had some firsts. To start of the weekend, Bob went to his first "Father's and Sons" with our stake. Are you asking yourself why? Well..... drum roll please..... Bob is in the Young Mens and they asked him to go. He was a little embarrassed when he was the only one there who didn't have any children. He got a lot of questions of why he was there.
I slept at my parents house, which wasn't a first. I went to dinner at El Gallo with my parents which was definitely not a first. But it might have been the first time that week my parents had been their.
Bob and I met up at home Saturday morning and we attended together a BYU Alumi Activity. This was a first for both of us. We ate J-Dawgs near the football stadium, this was my first time eating one and it was pretty good. Then we attended the BYU baseball game against San Diego. This was our first baseball game together and it was a good one. We didn't stay for the whole game because I got my first sunburn of the year. It was a pretty good one. It was a beautiful day and I loved being outside without a jacket.
That night Bob and I doubled with Andrea and Brent for the first time. Dan came along for the food and good company. We went to the Trolley in Springville. I wish it had been my first time sitting in the Trolley part of the resturant but we didn't make it. It was Bob's first time spilling his water at dinner. My first time was last time we went to dinner with Brent. We are making it a tradition.

Quick Trip to Pasco
Bob and I made a quick trip last week to Washington to see Bob's family. It was a great weekend. It is always nice to get away from school and spend some time with family. We were lucky to have nice weather and spent a couple afternoons on the golf course.
Sticking with my plan for the Memorial Day 10k, I also ran while on vacation. It was so nice to be able to run in the morning and not after school. On Thursday I ran 5 miles, and on Saturday I ran a 10k. The 10k was super hard and I know I need to train a ton more.
I tried to run on Friday, but my new friend Fritz would not leave me alone. He stayed on my heels the first 1/2 mile so I decided to turn back. I figured I would either kick him in the face, or I would trip and face plant. After running Bob and I did some crafting to help Shannon out. These are the cutest things ever and I am stealing this idea. I am planning on making some of these napkin rings for all of the holidays. Maybe I'll start with the 4th of July. We used ribbon and an empty wrapping paper tube to make these.
*The night before we left Emily touched up my highlights and I turned a little more blonde than expected. But I really like it.
We spent the night playing with these kiddos. Abby and Ty are the cutest kids. This was my favorite vacation with them. The past few times I have been there, they have been shy around me, but not this time. We played around with the camera, went fishing and played princesses.
We went out to eat at Outback. Bob's ultimate favorite. We ate tons and it was sooo good.
On Friday the annual Barber Golf Tournament was held. Last year Bob won and it was quite the competition this year. Levi took the lead on the last hole this year, it was a great game.
Overall we had a wonderful trip. On our way home, my car hit the big 20! 20,000 miles that is.
We are looking forward to Hawaii for many more games of golf, rook, good food, and family fun.
