Makena Golf Course

Golf is a big part of our trip to Hawaii. I have loved watching Bob and the guys golf in the past but this year I loved it more than ever. It was so relaxing on the golf cart. Bob played really well, and each course was beautiful! 

This was our first time on the Makena course. I think I took 50 pictures each time we went golfing, I loved each hole. 

My time was spent on the cart reading. I read the Luxe series by Anna Godbersen and loved it.

What I do best

At our condo complex there were 4-5 small pools and then 1 large pool right by the beach. The rules at the pools are very strict. No floats or toy, you couldn't play any noisy games, etc. When you are there without kids, it works out just fine. But with kids, it's hard to not play games and be noisy. The rules were strictly enforced at the large pool, so we learned our lesson and went to the small pools. Our condo had 2 floats and we would float around on them.

It was so relaxing and fun. One day everyone went back to eat lunch and I stayed at the pool for a little while longer. Since there was no one in the pool, I got my nook, and layed on the float and just read my book in the middle of the pool. It was awesome!!!!

Levi started a challenge to see who could swim down and back across the pool without taking a break. Levi and I were the only ones who could do it!

BJ's Pizza and Heather's Birthday

On Monday we went to the other side of the island to shop around and eat dinner at BJ's pizza. They have the best bbq chicken pizza and cookie pazookies.

On Sunday afternoon we walked down to the beach. Bob got out the kite and was having a great time flying it. It did get caught in a bunch of bushes at 1 point, but it was flying high too.

 The kids had a great time getting their feet wet and running in the waves.

Sunday in Hawaii

We checked into our condo Friday night and found out that our condo didn't have air conditioning in the living room. This was one of our main priorities since we would be cooking there and this would be our main hangout. (We had 2 condo's.) Luckily the next morning the management company found us another condo with air conditioning and it was a ton closer to the beach. We had a beautiful view from our balcony.

 Ashley, Tate, and I on our way to church. It was so fun to have Ashley and Tate in Hawaii. We don't get to see them often since they live in China. We are so excited for them to be living in California next Spring. We missed you Dan!

My Baby's in Hawaii

Because of my work schedule and Bob's school schedule I flew to Hawaii the day before Bob and he flew home a few days me. Brad and I flew to Hawaii early Friday morning. Brad and I got lucky on our long flight and we both had a row to ourselves so we could sleep the entire flight.

The next morning we returned to the airport to pick up Bob, and Levi's family. It was so fun to be there waiting for the flight to come in. Bob has been looking forward to Hawaii all summer and you could tell he was so happy when he got off the plane.

Bob grew out his hair before the trip and then was going to trim the sides. Well long story short, he ended up having to shave the whole thing. He needed someone to tell him how it looked because this is what his hair looked like when he took his hat off. Ooops!

Guess who is back?

Luckily my computer started up again. Unfortunately my battery is still dead and I have to buy a new one for $75 out of my $200 school budget. Blah!

The first week of computers my student T got kicked out for uncontrollable laughter. I have never had a student kicked out of computers, so I was shocked. Yesterday we had computers again and this same kid got kicked out again. (Last time he just was sent in the hall and I found him.) And then this time he wouldn't stop laughing and burping so he was sent back to class. He came in 10 minutes after computers had ended and the class was now in PE. I asked him where he had been and he told me he was too scared to tell me he had been kicked out of computers. I asked him why and he said he didn't want to get kicked out of school for the year. He had it in his mind that he was done forever! haha. I guess I am doing my job by being a strict teacher.

Today during the last half hour of school this boy J had somehow redone his hair do. His hair was all wet and spiked. I asked him why he was doing his hair.
"Because I am so hot and it's better for me to get my hair wet because it takes all my sweat away. And the only other way to get rid of the sweat is to take my shirt off, and I don't think you want me to do that."

New girl in my class came to school with nasty pink eye. Here one eye was all red and pussy in the corner. I had her call home but her mom didn't come until almost the end of the day. I was so sad when I saw that she was absent today along with the boy sitting next to her.

Oh and the best news of all? Each year the Title 1 schools have each grade target their 9 lowest kids. Then we work extra hard with them. Then we compare their end of year tests from 2nd to 3rd grade.  We just got our results back today and our team made the most improvement out of all the 3rd grade Title 1 schools in our district. Sorry I had to toot my own horn a little bit. But it was seriously such a great feeling to see how well our kids did last year.
