library linger longer

Last week library was one for stories. While we were passing the books down the line we had a little incident on our end. The boy who was taking the books from the librarian let out a silent fart. Yes it was one of the silent but deadly kind. - Let's be honest, I have someone fart really loud in my class at least once a week when it is dead silent. Everyone laughs and I just tell them to ignore it. The librarian upon smelling the fart, started laughing but the laughing turned into gagging. It stunk so bad, she had to leave. The smell didn't go away for a good 2 minutes. It was pretty funny.

My first 5K

This morning I ran my first official 5K. (I kind of ran one a couple years ago on Thanksgiving, but it was with my family around the neighborhood, nothing official.) I woke up early and was pretty nervous. Our 5K was in Lehi and it was for Miles of Smiles, or Smiles for Miles- something to do with Operation Smile.

This past week I started training for my 10K that I am running on Memorial Day with Mary. I ran 3 times and ran about 2 miles each time. So this morning I wasn't sure if I could do 3 miles without stopping. I kept telling my brother that I hoped I would even finish. He was pretty worried about me.

There weren't a lot of people at the race. There were about 45 people there. I ended up doing better than I expected.... but I know I have a long way to go. I have to do double of what I did today in 1 month.

I ran without stopping, and by ran I mean jogged. I finished in 33 minutes. So I averaged about an 11 minute mile. My goal for my 10K is a 10 minute mile or less. I'm glad I was able to do this with my brother. He did awesome and we only ran together for the first 3 seconds before he left me. He ran it in 25 minutes or so.

Dan and some of his friends that told him about the run. The girl in the black shirt was just ahead of me the whole time and it was nice to pace off of her.
Wish I had taken a pre pic when I looked somewhat decent.
We were one of the first people to get there. The numbers actually started at 400, haha.

The mystery of the flying book

***I went on a blogging spree, there are lots of posts below. Check them out.

Today I had library and we were helping the librarian inventory some of the books. My class was helping with the picture books and were lined up in a big "train" passing books from one end of the library to the other.

One of the rules was to only hold 1 book at a time.

The students were passing fast. The librarian would scan the book and send it down the line. Then the 2 at the end would put them on the shelf.

Almost at the end of the line, opposite of where I was helping *Tom was going fast and was pressured by *Ben who had a stack of books. Tom quickly gave the book to *Anna. Tom said Anna's face ran into the book, but for the amount of blood gushing out her nose, I would say it was a good toss to the face.

Now the students were in a train, and they were doing their job right. So instead of getting out of line, they passed word of the bloody nose back up the train one by one until it reached me.

After a lot of toilet paper, an ice pack, and a rest in the nurses room- Anna was all better.

BYU Grad

Tomorrow my hubby is graduating from Brigham Young University. I am so proud of him. Because we weren't sure where we were going to be next year up until a few weeks ago, Bob was planning on going to summer school for some more pre reqs. He didn't think he would be graduating so we actually aren't attending graduation. I loved going to mine, but Bob doesn't mind missing and is looking forward to Pharmacy school graduation. Which he plans on attending!

Yesterday we went out to celebrate with my family. First we met my parents and Dan at the Provo temple to do a session. We then met Andrea, Brent, Ayrika, and Grandma Andrus at Outback for dinner. It was packed for a Wednesday night. But I guess a lot of people had the same idea to try and celebrate early. It was so fun to be together and to celebrate my husband!

Happy Graduation Babe! You did it! Only 3 more years, haha.

Mom and Grandma
Today in the lunch room I was in line with my class when a 1st or 2nd grader came up to me. "Mrs. Barber!!! I saw you at Outback last night. Wasn't that so fun?" I laughed and said yes, I kind of felt like a celebrity with all of the attention she was giving me. haha. I had no idea who she was. **** Oh and Mary, I saw our Math teacher Bob at Outback. Remember how he loved it. He didn't recognize me- but I had a good laugh.

And that makes 3

My cousin Emily is having a baby in the middle of May. Her sister JanaRae and I threw her a baby shower last weekend. I couldn't have done my part without my Mom. She is amazing. We used my cricut to cut out lots of cute things on fabric and then during the shower, people decorated a onesie for Emily and Baby Hartvigsen. (Name is yet to be determined.) We had chicken salad sandwiches, fruits and veggies, and yummy chocolate cake. It was a lot of fun and the onesies were a big hit!

Our laundry line of onesies. Most of them are 0-3 months. The super tiny ones are newborn. I couldn't believe how small they were, when I pulled them out of the package.
Some of the guests....

I made this sign, and felt I needed a picture with it before I threw it in the trash.

Denver

Once upon a time I wrote a long post about our awful trip to Colorado, but chose not to post it. We went there over Spring Break because Bob had an interview. But days after we set everything up, we found out we were staying in Utah. So we went just for the heck of it. We were without a car, in a small town with only a few restaurants. My previous post was too long and too boring. Let's just say, we did lots of walking, and couldn't wait to get home.

Cricut Bibs

A couple of weeks ago I felt the need to get crafty. I found out I can use my cricut to cut fabric. If you want to know how, go HERE. My cousin Emily is about to have a baby boy, and I needed to use up some of my crafting energy.

I bought some of these at Ikea.

I bought some of those small squares of fabric. (They have some at walmart for only $1.) You don't need very much fabric for bibs and onesies. (And no, I don't have an ironing board, I use a towel on my table.)
And after using a needle and thread to stitch around the edges, I came up with these.

Yes the green one is a frog, a weird looking frog.

Bedroom Makeover

Remember these? I made them months ago, and finally put them to good use! I've had them sitting around for the past few months wondering if I would ever use them. On Monday, I went to Ikea with my Mom and sister Ayrika. Over spring break they were re-doing Ayrika's room. So we were on a hunt for the perfect comforter, and accessories. Luckily we found everything she wanted and even more. While there, I found the a duvet for our bed that matched the colors that I had picked.

Today Bob dropped me off at JoAnns and I found some fabric to match for curtains. I spent the last 4 hours sewing the curtains and 2 pillow cases. (They are orange, but a little too bright for my taste.) A big THANKS to my Mom for helping me. The room is still pretty bare, but it's coming together. We are getting a headboard from my parents and then I'll figure out what to do next. *Sorry for the quality of photos, I had to use my laptop because I can't find my cord.

-Woke up and cleaned up our room.
- Waited for the shuttle to pick us up.

Bob's first with dyeing eggs....

On Saturday night we were about to leave my parents house when my sister called and said she was coming over to dye eggs. We had talked about it earlier but no one had a dye kit, so we decided not to. Andrea and Brent came over with 4 different kits and my Mom boiled 3 dozen eggs.

I was getting the crayons out and organizing the stuff when Bob asked what the crayons were for. I then learned that Bob had never dyed Easter eggs before.

It was a fun night, even though it was late. We dyed the eggs with Brent, Andrea, and my Dad. It was a lot of fun and I think my Dad had the best time. haha.

Mission Bowling

On Friday night we went to Bob's mission reunion in Bountiful. It was fun to see his companions and mission president. The food is always good- which is a plus for me since I really don't know anyone.

After the reunion we went bowling with Casey and Katelynn. We have made this a tradition and I love it. I am a decent bowler, once I was in a bowling league. And bowling is the only thing I can beat Bob at.

This year, it took a turn for the worse. Bob beat me both games. The first game it was only by 10 but the second game it was by 50 or so. I couldn't break 90, haha.
