mt. pleasant, utah

This weekend we decided to take a trip down to Mt. Pleasant. My parents own a motel (Horseshoe Mountain Lodge) there and they had rooms available. On the ride down I enjoyed looking at the changing leaves. I was driving, so I had to take pictures on our way home.

There is a restaurant with the hotel so as soon as we checked in, we went to eat. It's a little hometown restaurant, maybe the only sit down restaurant in Mt. Pleasant. We had ribs and prime rib and were stuffed when we left.
We watched a movie on TV and then left for Ephraim. On the way there the sun was in it's last minutes of setting and it looked really pretty. This picture doesn't do it justice.
We went to the movie theater which had 2 movies playing one was R, so our only option was Julie and Julia. (Which I loved!!!) We were the first ones there for the 8:45 showing, and after we paid, (only $12 for two tickets) they handed us two blue tickets.
We went inside and got some treats and tried to go into the theater, but the previous showing was still playing. The ticket taker was an older man who sat on a stool and put the tickets in a container.
We woke up at 8, (well I woke up at 7, and tried to be quiet, but got bored) and went to breakfast. Cheerios, pastries, bagels and juice.

We were sad that they pool had already been closed, but had an enjoyable time. Thanks Mom and Dad for having a motel, and letting us have a night away.

Typical Day at Home

If you were ever to enter the Barber home, you would most likely find Alyse in this position. Whether on her blogs, writing an email, or creating documents for her third grade class, Alyse spends the majority of her time on her computer. On the other hand, you will usually find Bob poking Alyse in the face, biting her in the arm, or watching T.V.

kneeders and a concert in the park

Friday night we went to see Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband! They were amazing. The concert was a blast and it was so fun to see Alisha and Patrick. It was really hot that afternoon and I didn't think to bring a jacket, but it surprisingly cooled down and I wished I had brought one.
We went to Kneeders before the concert and picked up some food to eat at the park. Here is Bob cutting some pumpkin bread for everyone.
Alisha and Patrick

Some pictures of the band, sorry they are so blurry, my camera is not high quality.
Gotta love the corn dog song, I even got Bob to sing along.

Sherlock Holmes Please?

This past month has been a crazy one for my family. We have had 3 items stolen from us. Ranging from small, medium, and large items.

Case #1 A couple weeks ago Bob went outside to mow the lawn and realized our lawn mower was gone. We asked my Dad if he or his business partner had borrowed it for the other complexes they own. He said no, and we realized that it had been stolen off our property.Case #2-- I then called my Mom later in the week and she told me they had had a horrible day. Our trailer for our four wheelers was gone that morning. In the middle of the night someone had backed up to it, hooked it up and took off with it. (We had only had this trailer for a few years, and it was really nice and held 3 four wheelers.) On Labor Day my Dad was depressed that we couldn't take our four wheelers anywhere.

Case #3 --And then today we went home to watch the BYU game and my Mom told us how my youngest sister Ayrika, had her brand new IPOD touch stolen at Volleyball practice the other day. She had just gotten it for her birthday at the end of August. Hopefully they figure somethings out when they watch the security camera at the high school. Can you believe that? We have had a rough month with things being stolen.I don't remember our family ever having a problem with things being stolen. It's crazy how people are just taking anything they can get their hands on these days. We were lucky because we had our wave runners on our trailer sitting out in front of our house the week before our trailer was stolen. Luckily it wasn't those! Remember LOCK YOUR DOORS, and take all valuables out of your cars!

I love to see the Temple

Bob and I have made a goal to go to the temple weekly. Can I tell you how much I love the Temple! It is amazing and I can't wait to go each week. Bob made a golf time for Saturday morning. I asked if his friends wife was going and since she wasn't, I told him I would go to to the Temple while he was gone. Bob couldn't believe I would go again when we just went on Wednesday. How lucky we are to have so many nearby!

This weekend...

I am already looking forward to the weekend and it is the first workday of the week. (But it is also Tuesday!) I love 4 day work weeks, they usually go by quick. Every year for the past 4 years or so, I have gone to Thanksgiving point to see Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband perform. They are amazing and I love their music- they have great energy when they perform. Bob and I saw a flyer at SubZero a few weeks ago and saw that they were playing at the Scera. I begged Bob to let me buy tickets and he said we could. I have been trying to get him to listen to their music, so he would be ready. We put off buying tickets because they are 4 for $45 or $15 each. (Hoping we would find someone to go with, but we didn't actually try!) Tonight my friend Alisha text me and asked me if we wanted to go to the concert with her and her husband Patrick. I was so glad. We haven't seen them for a while and are always wanting to get together. Luckily they hadn't bought their tickets either, so we got them on sale! I can't wait! If you haven't seen them perform live, you need to! On Saturday we are going to my parents house to watch the BYU game, we only have basic TV so we will be over there a lot this fall.

30+ people wearing brown shirts and jeans, running around the utah state mental hospital grounds, getting yelled at by some girl in charge of a program at the amphitheater, amateur photographer, grandpa wearing jeans for the 1st time, babies crying, and smiling faces for a family picture. (These pictures were all taken on my camera, we haven't gotten the 'real pics' yet.)

The boy cousins (Jaxon, Dillan, Dan, Weston, Spencer, Jaycob, Jarron, and Nathaniel)

Grandma and Grandpa Hales with their children. (Carrie, Kent, Ren, Blaine, and Shauna)
Glimpse at a group shot, atleast Bob and I were looking.
Sisters, Ayrika my twin-just 8 years younger, Andrea and me.

Us- Yes Bob is pulling his new Classic Smile. - He swears he loved pictures but I know he was lying, we missed most of the BYU football game for these pictures.

beware gross...

Earlier in the summer I took some dark nail polish off of my toenails and my left big toe was all black and bruised. I couldn't remember having dropped anything on it or being stepped on. But it was 50% bruised. I didn't think anything of it, but have been hoping that it would just grow out. Last night I was filing my toenails and the whole left side of my toenail lifted up. It was SO gross. The right side of my nail is fine and attached but the left side came off. I almost started crying, my toenail is so gross looking now. And I heard that it takes up to a year to grow back a toenail. Eeeewwww! I might have to wear shoes and socks until it grows back and looks semi normal. I love sandals, but it just looks so gross. I tried painting it tonight, I just painted over the whole nail area, because I didn't want it to appear that I had a skinny toenail.
Sorry for the foot picture, I just hate posting without a picture. And from far away it doesn't look too bad, right?
