Overnight Get a Way

On Friday night Bob's mission companion and college roommate Casey, had his wedding reception in Ogden. After a long week of working, a lot of stress with moving and changing classes- I wasn't really looking forward to a night of driving. Bob and I packed an overnight bag and went up to the reception.

Casey gave us the recommendation of the Ogden Pizzeria, where we had cheese bread and BBQ pizza. It was awesome and the cute older couple sitting next to us were happy to share they had gone there on the 1st date, just 6 years ago.
After dinner we checked into our hotel down the street. There are a bunch of horses on both sides of the streets and they were painted with different themes. This was one that we saw. We had an indoor pool and hot tub to ourselves. (Not too many people staying in Ogden that night.... ha ha!) We enjoyed swimming and then watching a movie. I was so glad that we stayed away for the night. I left all of my school stuff at home and was able to just relax.

A Visit to see Grandpa Fielding

On our way home from Washington, we rode with Bob's cousin Cory and his wife Jen. (We were carless because we drove up Lowell's new car.) We were lucky that Cory and Jen also wanted to stop by and see Grandpa Fielding. We stopped in Oregon and had breakfast with Grandpa and his wife Delores. It was fun to finally meet them and to sit and talk for a few minutes. We hope to be able to go back soon.

Quick Trip- Golf Pro

Before school started we took a quick trip to Washington to spend some time with Bob's family. It was VERY quick since we couldn't leave until Bob's finals were over and had to be back in time for my early meetings Monday morning. We left Wednesday and got back Sunday night. Bob's dad Lowell bought a car in Utah and we drove it to Washington. While we were there we went golfing, ate wonderful meals, sat around the table playing games, and watched The Sound of Music. It was so fun to be with family and enjoy our last bit of summer vacation. Bob competed against his brother's Brad and Levi and Dad in a family golf contest. Bob being the underdog, played awesome and won with his two day average! (His family goes golfing weekly and Bob made it to the course once this summer....) I was so proud of him. I loved riding along in the cart watching the boys golf.

Class Changes Already?

As most of you know I was given the assignment of teaching a split class. Half third grade and the other half second. Well our school is booming with growth, which was was unexpected and we were able to hire another teacher to teach 2nd grade. So I am now going to be teaching 3rd grade only. I should be ecstatic about it, but there is going to be so much work to move out the 2nd graders and move in the new 3rd graders I will be getting from the other 3 classes which were bursting. It should start next week if they get all of the parents called in time. So even though we have been in school for a week and half, I will be starting all over again!

I really am excited and it will be easier on me in the long run. I am just a little sad because I will miss my awesome 2nd graders! They are so fun and all such smartie pants. I love teaching them! Soon I will update you with our trip to Washington!

{1st day laughs}

Today was my first day of school- that might be why I have had a lack of posts lately. I had a great day, I love my school, and I can't wait to get into a set schedule. On the other hand, I am exhausted and have my feet up because I think they might fall off if not.

Today my funny moment happened when I was explaining my behavior system. I give all the kids 10 tickets at the beginning of the week for doing their class jobs. But if they get in trouble or forget to do their job, they have to pay me. For bathroom- I let them go for free at recess and lunch. But if they need to go during my teaching time, they have to pay me 2 tickets. I was explaining this and a cute little second grader raised her hand and said, "I pee my pants a lot, so that isn't going to work for me!" I almost died, I told her I would talk to her later about it. I couldn't believe she announced it infront of the whole class. Everyone turned and looked at her, and her face turned red, I thought she was going to cry- but she didn't!

cutie pie korbin

I'll be honest, I haven't babysat for a LONG time. A year ago I babysat a newborn for a few hours, but since then I can't remember babysitting since before college. Tonight my friend Mary had a meeting in Provo and I got to watch her little boy Korbin. He will be 2 in a few weeks and is expecting a new baby brother or sister in 3 months. He is a doll. He showed up in the car, and waved to me, excited to see me. I asked Mary if he was going to cry and she said no, but with my luck he would. Don't worry- we kept ourselves entertained! Here's a few pictures to document our fun.

(I promise when he came, he had clothes on. But once he started playing with his toy animals, he took his shirt off. )

We had a little snack, mmmm cheerios! But somehow they made it onto the kitchen floor.

I thought it would be fun for Korbin to help me clean up and when I got the broom, I got the dustpan and sweeper. He did pretty good, we will work on his arm coordination next time!
Korbin brought with him a few toys, after playing with the animals for a while, we gave up and played cars.

I told Korbin to give me his funniest face and this is what happened! What a cutie! (Bob fed him a few cheetos- so he got a little messy!)
Korbin found some of my school books, but they were all chapter books, we found one with a few pictures but it was about myths, so not a book for a toddler.
I turned on a book being read online, since I had no childrens books in my house.

Boating fun!

The week of the 24th was a great week. I was able to go boating 3 times, and Bob was able to go twice. I love boating and hadn't been since the day before my wedding. I used to be OK at wakeboarding a few summers ago when I went every week all summer long. But I hadn't really been since then, so I was a little rusty. Over the week, I got it back though and was excited to enjoy going back and forth across the wake. Bob did awesome even though he had only gone a few times when he was younger.

Andrea and her boy McKay-- at this point the weather was getting a little scary, the waves were getting big and we were in for a wild ride. Once we passed the "eye of the storm" as my brother called it, we were on smooth water!
Me trying to handle the bumpy ride.... Bob wasn't able to come on this trip because of school.
These pictures are all of Bob. The first two of him wakeboarding and the third knee boarding up in Ogden with Bob's friend Casey and his finance. (can't remember name, ah!)

proud internet owners- classroom update

We are happy to have internet in our apartment again! And this time it is officially ours! What a crazy month we have had! I can't believe it is already August and school starts in 3 weeks! Some of my classroom is still in our 2nd bedroom. (GASP!!!) During this past month I have spent a lot of time at school, I wish it was working on my classroom but mostly at meetings. I had 6 days with my 2nd grade team and 6 with the 3rd grade team. In between those days I have tried to get my classroom put together!

My Mom gave me a cricut for Christmas this year. I used it for a few small projects, but until now it hadn't been used much. The past couple of weeks I have been using it a ton! One of the cartridges I have is for paper dolls, and it has 2 pirates in it. I decided on a pirate theme and went cricut crazy. Apparently the teacher who was in my classroom last year loved it too and was always using the schools. Her walls were covered with things she made and they nicknamed her the cricut slut. -- haha. Here is what I have so far!
