{Camping with the Nelsons}

This weekend we went up Spanish Fork Canyon to experience our first camping trip together. We went with our friends Mary, Russ and baby Korbin. We had the whole day to prepare, and I thought we had everything ready so I went to my classroom and organized. That afternoon we hurried and put our stuff in the car and met Mary and Russ. We realized we had left our camping chairs back at our apartment. (The only camping equipment we owned previously was the chairs and had to buy all of the other stuff- ironic that we forgot them.) We quickly got them and drove up the canyon. It was raining.... the whole drive, but once we set up the tent it calmed down.

Warning**** These pictures may appear out of order. Ooops!
Mary and Korbin in the tent before we played games. It was raining a little at this point.... A little rain never hurt anyone!
Mary found a cattepillar and Korbin was being so cute looking at it and trying to pet it. This is me with my new sleeping bag. There were a few different choices at Target, but the one that spoke to me was the pink-camo!!! Too bad they didn't have a blue-camo for Bob. It was Mary's birthday on Friday so I made cupcakes for her. Korbin loved the frosting and licked it all off in 10 seconds. How can you not have fun with this little guy?
Here we are in the Nelson's tent playing cards after the fire went out. I think that we all took turns winning a hand.
Mmmmm we loved our hobo dinners. This was one of the first dinners I made for Bob when we got back from our honeymoon. -- So easy and so good!
Bob put our 2 man tent together, yes it looks baby, and yes it was raining the whole time- But it was awesome!

Our fire at the end of the trip where we roasted our hot dogs for lunch! Below, Russ, Korbin and Bob putting the tarps away as we clean up camp. This was on the bridge that we crossed to get to our campsite. At this point we were tired, smelly and hot. Ready to go home and take a shower and take a long nap. Thanks to the Nelson's who invited us and were great company!

{Rain Rain Go Away}

The month of June passed by quickly with a lot of rainy days. With this being my first summer without a full time job, I thought I would get in a few pool days. I can't believe it is almost July and I still haven't gone to a pool yet. During one of those rainy days we made our way to Wal-Mart to pick up a few things. On the way there it started pouring, and when we got out of the car, we realized we were in a huge puddle. Luckily I was wearing my crocs (which I rarely ever wear) so I was able to roll my pants up and wade through the water. Bob, on the other hand was wearing his tennis shoes, and he would've been soaked. The water was atleast 8 inches deep. I had to record what happened next..... Enjoy!
The first picture is before we got out of the car, I was freaking out there was so much water. The 2nd picture is when I started to wade into the water, I rolled my pants up and by the time we got across the parking lot- the part I rolled up was soaked. And the 3rd is our genius idea of pushing Bob on a cart as we went through the puddles!

A little bit of this....

Bob and I enjoyed a relaxing Friday. With the semester changing at BYU Bob had the day off from work. We slept in, until 9, suprisingly late for us. And made waffles for breakfast. We got ready and made our way to the temple. It was a beautiful day outside- which was a great change from our constant cloud coverage and sparatic rain showers. We ate lunch at Olive Garden with some wedding gift cards. We picked up a few groceries at my favorite grocery store, Buy Low and then went home to watch My Girl. Bob picked stuffed crust pizza for dinner. We attempted to make it, if you don't know the secret, you put string cheese into the crust. I had to cut mine in half to cut back, but Bob wanted all the cheese he could get. Here are some photos to show our night together!
BBQ sauce for our BBQ chicken pizza! Mmmmm it was so good!
Red onions that I cut-- look at that cutting board, I have been doing my fair share amount of cutting and cooking the past couple weeks.
Our baby amount of chicken- Bob thought I was being skimpy, but I knew our pizza wouldn't be too big. BTW Bob's mom bought us some of the best pans ever. I love cooking with them.
Bob being himself as he cut up some mushrooms for our pizza. He loved using the food chopper that we got for our wedding. I didn't think to pull it out until after he cut all of the mushrooms.We became obsessed with Jeopardy- For some reason we can't get enough of it. We know a few answers each night- but it's always fun to guess!
* Verdict- It was good, but the crust that we made didn't work that well with the stuffed crust!

A few of my favorites!

Here are a few of my favorite wedding day photos! I am so lucky to have the world's greatest family- Before May 22nd there were only 6 of us, and now there are over 20 in my immediate family. I am so grateful for both sides of my family.
This was the view from our room at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building where our luncheon was held! It was a perfect day!
Us infront of the temple. I love this angle.
Nate and Staci, Giorgia, Jackson, Julia and Harrison. They live in the Tri-Cities, near Bob's parents.
My cute sisters, Ayrika (14) and Andrea (20)--I can't believe how grown up Ayrika looks. People think we are the same age a lot-
Bob's parents, us and my parents
An attempt to take a picture with all of the nieces and nephews. If you are under the age of 2, you have to start crying. Staci trying to get Giorgia in the picture, Abby, Julia, Me and Ty, Bob and Tate, Harrison and Jackson. It's crazy to go from no nieces and nephews to having 7! I love it!
My new family!
One without Bob-
A little smooch after we came out of the temple as Mr. and Mrs. Barber!
I love this picture, because this is really how they feel. Gross- Alyse is kissing a boy!-- My siblings are so good looking!

My new inlaws David and Kelsey came from Wisconsin, where Dave attends medical school.
Dan, Ashley and Tate, my inlaws who got the farthest travelers award! They came from China, where they are currently living! I met them for the first time after we were sealed in the temple.
Like father like son. This is my Grandpa Hales and my Dad waiting for the luncheon to begin!
My cousins who could make it to the wedding. Matthew and Emily, Mark and JanaRae, JayneAnn, Mike and Laken! Thanks for coming!!!
Coming out of the Salt Lake Temple, What a great moment!
A little cheering for the new couple!!! Yea! We did it! I love being Mrs. Alyse Barber!
Our cake- Not only was it beautiful, but it was the best cake I have ever tasted! A lady in my parents ward made the cake for me! My aunt and sister put it together when they got it up to the JSMB.
Look at these handsome men! My father in law Lowell, Nate, Levi, Bob, Brad, David, and Dan.
