Hot, Hot, Hot!

I started taking Clomid this week. This drug helps the ovaries to ovulate. Ovulation seems to be the only problem I have left. Hopefully Clomid will do it's job. Not being able to ovulate = infertile which equals insurance won't cover. So getting an ultrasound is already a huge bummer when you are looking at an empty uterus but it's an even bigger bummer when you have to pay $200 for it.

Last night I started having an aching feeling near one of my ovaries. It didn't go away and I got a little worried. So being the paranoid person that I am, I called the after hours nurse. She calmed me down and let me know that my ovaries were just working over time because of the drugs. She advised me to drink lots of fluids and take tylenol. But if I were to have excruciating pain, start bleeding, or have a temperature I was to go to the emergency room.

As I lay in bed about to go to sleep, all I could think about was pain, blood, or a high temp. A few hours later, around 2 I woke up sweating to death. I was so hot, I couldn't handle it. I got up and got a drink and went back to bed. I thought to myself- I have a fever and I am going to the ER in the morning if it's still there. Again around 4 the same thing happened. This time on my way back from the bathroom I stubbed my toes on that post at the bottom of our bed. I was so bummed as I thought about missing our ward breakfast because of the dumb fever.

When I woke up for good at 6:30, I had the same symptoms. I took my temperature and to my surprise it was just normal, maybe a little on the low side of normal.

While in the shower I remembered the most common side effect from clomid: HOT FLASHES. So apparently I am a little paranoid while taking medication. But I am so glad that I am only having hot flashes and I'm not admitting myself into the hospital right now. haha.

Golf Lovers

Once upon a time I married a golfer. Prior to that I wasn't much of a golfer. Now I enjoy watching Bob golf and when we mini golf, I try to give him some competition. I must say, I am getting better after many tips from Bob.

This weekend we went to Trafalga twice. I wish I could say that I beat Bob- but I didn't. One day I will, but it might take a lot more practice.

We both had a few hole in ones, and I had a really good game on Friday and shot par. Today was another story and I had quite a few bad holes.

Bob's Surprise

A few weeks ago Bob came home from his church meetings and realized that he had forgotten his scriptures at the church building. Because we were going to church in a couple hours, we didn't worry. But when we got to church, we couldn't find his scriptures. They weren't in the lost and found either. Each week we kept checking back, but we never found them.

Bob had been reading his scriptures off of his phone and I knew he really needed some new ones. I went to Deseret Book to get him a new set. I had never bought scriptures before and they are expensive. haha. Bob was so surprised when he found them later that day.

I am sure that his old scriptures are going to turn up any day now, since he has his new ones.

(I might've been laying on the couch and used my cell phone to take this picture. So bad quality and really bad picture.)

Malawi's Pizza

Yes we are behind on the times, and we finally tried Malawi's Pizza at The Riverwoods. We had no idea what to expect but I knew we had to get a dessert pizza. (Thanks for the recommendation Laken!)

We ordered a few pizzas, and took our seats to wait. We seriously had our pizza within 5 minutes. I was so surprised at how fast their service was.

We loved all of the pizzas. They all came out at the same time and we wanted to eat our dessert pizza hot so we were eating dessert and dinner at the same time. Next time we will order our dinner pizza first, eat it, and then order our dessert pizza.

I also LOVED their super thin crust. I felt justified in eating an extra piece or two.

Peanut Butter Smores pizza. YUM

Hawaiian Pizza

And last but not least, one happy husband!

Summer Swimming

Earlier in the summer I was in the mood for some sun and swimming and went to the scera pool near my house. I was there for an hour before dark clouds covered the sun and it became too cold to stay.

A couple weeks ago I decided I wanted to try out the new Lindon water park. I know it opened last year, but I had never been and was eager to see it. I loved the lazy river that went around the pools and they had a great children's area. The main attraction was the flo rider surf wave, but with healing wounds I didn't pay the extra to try it. *Sorry no picture of the surf wave.

And within the past 2 weeks I started using my pass to 7Peaks. It is pretty busy any day you choose to go. And it's a good walk to the park after finding free parking. (Who want's to pay $5?) But, I love sitting in the wave pool, it's so relaxing. Maybe one day I'll attempt some of the slides. haha. They are sticklers this year with bringing food into the park and they search your bag thoroughly. Yes I had to throw some snacks away that they found hiding in my bag.

The only part that isn't too great is Bob can never go with me. So if you want to go, let me know.

What was I thinking?

At church the other week my friend Jolene was telling me about the cupcakes she had at a wedding reception the night before. I love cupcakes and hadn't had them for a long time since of my healthy kick. The next day the Groupon of the day was $20 of cupcakes for $10 at Sweet Tooth Fairy. Somehow I found myself buying the coupon. The only downside of the coupon is you have to spend all of the money at once.

I planned to buy them on a day that I would be seeing friends, who had both recently had birthdays. So I picked out 9 cupcakes, and was excited to have 1 for myself and give most of them away. Unfortunately, about 30 minutes before I was going to leave, my friend called canceling. haha. *Sorry you didn't get your cupcakes Mary and Rachel.

I love cupcakes so much that I knew if I were to eat 1, I would cave and eat 5. (I am still working on self control.) So I didn't eat one the first day. I did have half of one the 2nd day. We gave away a few and put a few in the freezer for later. Eating healthy sure doesn't make eating fun.

The day I ate half, I also went to girls camp for Relief Society Day. And the YW fed us tin foil dinners and cobbler for dessert. After I finished my cobbler I had the worst stomach ache. I knew it was from the sugar overload. My body has become so used to only eating natural sugars from fruit that it kind of freaked when I ate all of those desserts. I guess that is good, but at the same time my craving for sugar hasn't lessened any in the last few months.

Day 2 with Heather, Levi, and kiddos

On Friday I woke up and got ready. I met Heather and the kids at the nail salon to get our toe nails painted. The boys had woken up extra early and had gone golfing. We all picked out reds, whites, and blues for our toes.

Abby got to sit with this huge stuffed animal so her feet would be a little closer to get her toes done.

Midway through Bob, Levi, and Brad showed up. Before they left with the kids I asked Bob to take a picture of us girls. When I was handing my camera to Bob my toe moved a teeny tiny bit. The lady doing my nails yelled at me because she was in the middle of painting a blue star on my big toe. We got our picture taken and when she went to start painting again she grabbed my big toe real mean like and told me NOT TO MOVE. Heather and I were dying with laughter.

*Later on we observed her little girl playing in someone else's pedicure water and drinking it from the nozzle. {nasty toe water...}  Maybe the lady was having a bad day and just decided to take it all out on me.

After our toes were painted we headed to 5 Guys for lunch. It was definitely a hit with everyone.

We toured Brad's dorm, well some of us did. Girls can only visit from 7-9 on Wednesdays and Sundays. Good thing I got to sneak a peak before the RA kicked us out.

We went to the Bean Museum up on campus. We saw lots of animals.

Then we stopped at the Wilk to play some games. Everyone had a great time. There is always a lot of competition between the Barber brothers. (We also bought some yummy fudge.)

We finished off the night with dinner at Cafe Rio. We had such a good time and miss our family already!  Heather and Levi treated us like we were on vacation. Thanks again!

utah lake

This afternoon we spent on Utah Lake. Bob wasn't able to make it. (It seems like that happens a lot in my life right now.) First of all the water is SOOOO high at the lake, higher than I have ever seen. The sun was shining, and there were only a few scattered clouds. It was a perfect day.

The dilemma was, should I get in the water or not? I had planned on just being in the boat soaking up the rays. I watched Brent and Andrea board. When Ayrika said she didn't want to go, I couldn't pass up the chance. I wish I would've prepared and at least bandaged up my belly button... but no. The water was a perfect temperature and for the afternoon, there were hardly any waves. It felt good to board again even if I was pretty weak.

We had a great time, until the boat decided to have a small fit. Luckily we all had had plenty of time to board. Ayrika missed out on her tubing, but she had her chance to board earlier.

I am so lucky to have a Dad who will spend his afternoon taking us out on the Lake. We all had a great time.

Oh and I need a new swimming suit but I can't find one that I like anywhere, or that fits normally. I have been a consistent medium since high school, but now I am somewhere in between a medium and a small and that doesn't really work out.

*All of these pictures are from my phone, sorry about the quality.

Lazy Day

Today I woke up at 10. Well I woke up at 6,7, and 8 before getting out of bed at 10. Then I spent my time eating breakfast, checking the news, reading a few blogs, cleaning the living room, and talking to my cousin on the phone. Then at 12, I decided to go the gym.

I got my gym clothes on and went to the library to get a few books to read. (I am way more motivated to workout if I have a book to read. I read on the elliptical and the time goes by quickly.)

Hit the gym at 12:30. Today was my first day back to the gym since surgery. And I didn't go the week before because I was at Lake Powell. So 3 weeks of no gym or exercise really makes a difference. I was dead, I lost a lot of endurance and strength. I did the elliptical for 30 minutes on one of the lowest settings and it was really hard. My belly button incision was looking and feeling it's best today. So I am hoping it will only get better and I can start trying a little harder.

I went to the grocery store at 1:15 and picked up some food for dinner. I made a salad to finish up the rest of my mangos. **That will be in another post. What I did with 20 mangos in the last 2 weeks.

I came home around 2, scarfed down some lunch and did the dishes, there were lots. And then I cut up some produce and prepared some food for dinner.

At about 5, I finally got in the shower. It felt good.

I quickly grilled some chicken and potatoes, delivered them to Andrea and now I am just waiting for Bob to come home.

Bob started up his MBA classes again today for the next 6 weeks. He has a super hard teacher that he had earlier in the year so he is staying until the school closes at 7 to study.

Maybe I should plan something fun and exciting for tomorrow.

A day in Salt Lake

On Thursday I met my brother and sister in law- Levi and Heather and their kids Abby, Ty, and Coy in Salt Lake. We met at the Zoo and spent a few hours walking around looking at animals, finding dinosaurs, and riding the train. It was a nice day for the zoo, hot but not too hot. It was fun to see them since we usually only see them at Christmas time. Coy sure had grown up since December.

Then we went to Uinta Golf so we could do some golf trading and shopping. Levi traded Bob's golf clubs in and got new clubs for himself. Then Bob was gifted Levi's old clubs. Bob was texting me all day trying to find out if the deal had gone through. He definitely got lucky in receiving Levi's old clubs.

Next stop was Temple square. Abby, Ty, and I got their first so we took a few pictures and put our hands in the reflecting pool. Then we toured the visitors center and I took some family pictures for Heather.

Abby and Ty rode home with me. We talked a lot the first 20 minutes. And then it was silent. I looked back to see two zonked out kids. It had been a long day and they were tired.

We finished the night by meeting at Brick Oven for BBQ chicken pizza. Bob's cousins, Mitch, Cory, Jen and Kristen met up with us along with some of Heather and Levi's friends.  I wish I had thought to take pictures, but I forgot because I was enjoying the pizza a little too much.

What a fun day! We love having family come in to town. It doesn't happen too often and it is a rare treat.
